This was a statement we heard quite alot at The Great Exhibition Road Festival 2024, which took place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June. It was a brilliant event. On both days, the students shared their research findings with members of the public. They were confident, clear, enthusiastic, and just brilliant! I couldn’t fault them in any way, they were so professional in their conduct, and got an amazing reputation for being fantastic!
The students put on the Myndband brain bands around the peoples' heads, and showed them their brain waves in real time, and explained what the dials meant, as well as the patterns. The members of the public were able to do activities such as solve the puzzle or colour in a drawing, to see whether they were 'focussed', 'relaxed' or 'in the zone' (which is both focussed and relaxed).
A paid artist, was going round doing cartoon pictures of the Festival, so featured here are a few of the drawings! Our Imperial College Zone Manager Cristina said that they had lots of really lovely comments about our school students, and members of the public were rating the students five out of five for their explanation of the project (mostly5/5!). One of the students said that the experience was much better than they thought it was going to be, which was nice. Another student said that they were really grateful for the opportunities they got at William Perkin.
Around four students came from William Perkin to visit, which was great, and Our Elite Scientists did us really proud. I was very Proud of all of them all.
At the end of weekend , we saw that 150 members of the public were focused, 116 were relaxed and 85 were in the zone. Not surprisingly, lots of people were focussed during their activities, which is what the students found out during their research. Well done to everyone.
Also thank you for the support from:
