William Perkin was visited by the SIAMS inspectors last month. This is the Church of England's system for checking the quality of Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural life in a Church of England school - from inclusion to Collective Worship. We received the highest grading and the experience of the inspection was a very positive one regarding all aspects of both provision and delivery.

The chief inspector was full of praise for attitudes &  behaviour of students as well as the delivery by staff  - summarising : ‘High expectations foster a culture where students engage well and develop a love of learning’.

The leadership team  of the school was also particularly commended  for taking ‘ bold decisions to support the flourishing of all’.

Some of the most heart-warming comments were :

  • The consistent ambition which staff have for all pupils and the commitment to inclusion
  • Rich offering of extra curricular which is transformative for students
  • Aspirational curriculum in RE and exceptional learning culture

We are extremely proud of our staff for everything they do on a daily basis to make the inspection so positive. It was also particularly lovely to hear from the students what the school means to them and the extent to which they really do recognise, value and appreciate the environment they study in.
