Is that a Brain in his Hands?!

Tuesday 13th October 2020, saw the Elite Scientist launch 2020-21!

Kwaku Duah-Asante, Medical Student from Imperial College, our science partner this year, gave a brilliant talk about his academic journey, and launched the new Elite Scientist project on Blood Pressure. There was a picture of a cadaver (dead body to you!), and a doctor with a real brain in his hands!!! Some people donate their body for organ donation or medical students to do their training. Kwaku also talked about how he saw medicine as a real privilege, “as people really trust you as a doctor”, he said.

Aya, in year 8, gave an insight Into her life as an Elite Scientist, as she was one last year, where she worked with De-Shaine Murray from Imperial College, on blood pressure as well. Thank you to her for her bravery! The year 8 students asked such wonderful questions at the end, very impressive well done! I’m really looking forward to seeing all the applications, and working with the 15 chosen students and Kwaku.

Such an inspiring talk! We are really looking forward to working with Kwaku this year.

Thanks to Kwaku Duah-Asante for the launch and Michael Lee-Woolley for the Tech support. Also want to say thank you to De-Shaine Murray for helping us link all of the Twyford Trust schools with a scientist each, for their own Elite Scientist type of projects this year!
