Good News All Round!
£1000 grant from the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers
The Science Department have won a £1000 science grant from the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers, to do an in-depth study on: “The effect of polluting gases from the A40, on lung function of students”. The new Elite Scientists 4.0 will be working with Dr Rebecca Holloway from Imperial College, London for the next academic year 2018-19, to investigate this question with a large cohort of students from William Perkin and Ada Lovelace students. We are very grateful to them for this grant, and would like to say a big thank-you to them! We are excited to see what the results will hold.

The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition 2018
It was another glorious science-drenched,hot day at The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition 2018. 25 students went along and learned all about the current cutting edge science being researched in the UK. It was phenomenal!
The students got to find out about research that layers atoms on top of one another. A surprisingly simple technique is used to create useful new nanoscale devices. Using sticky tape, one can peel off single layers of atoms from a crystalline sample and re-stack them to create brand new crystal structures with unique properties.
Other exhibits such as a mission to Mars, is hunting for clues to help scientists answer the ultimate question, about how life began on Earth. The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) is currently on a mission to search for signs of past or present life on Mars.
