Work on Café Extension Begins
Students returning after February half-term were impressed to see that work had started on the café extension in their absence and a rather large hole has now appeared in the ground.
Contractors BMR Construction Ltd are digging pilings ready for the café extension itself as well as preparing groundworks for the access of the temporary blocks ready for September 2019. This is needed to accommodate two year groups of Ada Lovelace students on site and will be a legacy for the William Perkin site once they have moved to their new school building in 2020.
The hoarding has a series of portholes cut in so students can keep an eye on progress. The contractors are discussing ways to include students in the project such as work experience, talks and creating artwork for the site.
