GCSE Results 2019

The Twyford Trust celebrated outstanding GCSE results which once again positioned its schools comfortably within the top 5% of schools in the country.

Outcomes at William Perkin have remained at the exceptional levels of the previous year with students achieving an estimated Progress-8 score of +1.2, indicating that students achieved grades which were, over 1 grade higher than the average within schools nationally.

43% of the exams sat were passed at the top grades of 7-9 (equivalent of A*-A in the previous system) and 90% achieved the pass grade of a 4 or above (previously a C-Grade).

Students picking up their examination results were exultant that the hard work of the past 5 years had paid off and put them in a strong position for enrolment onto post-16 courses at the school which launched its Sixth Form last year.

11 students gained 5 or more passes at the exceptionally challenging Grade 9 with 2 students gaining 9 or more grades at this level, one of whom achieved the highly unusual feat of straight 9’s across the board in all 10 of her subjects.

Headteacher, Keir Smith, commented ‘I am delighted that the school has been able to maintain the exceptional standards which it set last year. This is a tribute to the superb work ethic at the school and a team of highly motivated and positive staff’.
