On Wednesday 14 June, Dr Robin Poston came to speak to the Year 7 Science Core Elective students on Being Healthy and Careers in Healthcare.
Dr Poston is retired, but he still does research on inflammation of Multiple Sclerosis, at the William Harvey Research Institute, which is part of Queen Mary, University of London.
Things that Dr Poston talked about, was what we needed for a healthy diet, how much physical exercise we should do each day. Our students should be doing 60 mins. physical activity every day!
They also learned about what obesity and diabetes was, and how to prevent these conditions. Importantly, he talked about the dagers of vaping which was needed, especially as vaping has increased markedly amongst children.
Additionally, Dr Poston talked about careers in healthcare.
He was very inspirational!
